What's on in December

With a host of events in glamorous European cities, along with events in the UK and amazing destinations worldwide, there are plenty of ways to bring 2017 to an exciting end! December offers a perfect month of poker, whatever your budget; we’re looking forward to some cracking events.

 

Get your dancing shoes on!

If you’re based in Scotland, then don’t miss a great night in Edinburgh. Poker player Ross Gaff is behind a fantastic charity event in Edinburgh on December 23 featuring top DJ Jack Eye Jones. The party, which is being held at the city’s La Belle dance club, is raising funds for the Edinburgh Dog & Cat home. As well as Jones, other big names on the bill include Paton, Robbie Graham and Jamie Mac.

 

UK poker tournaments

The English Amateur Poker Championship kicks off on December 1, giving all us wannabe pros the chance to test our skills against other like-minded amateurs. The Amateur Poker Association’s premier live event includes a £75 + £7 Main Event and £42 PLO8 and takes place at Grosvenor Casino Reading from December 1 to 3. We have a lot of great hotels in Reading including the Ibis, Novotel and Best Western.

The Amateur Poker Association & Tour created the UK’s first national poker tour in 2006.  Since then, APAT has developed into a global operator holding multiple festivals in Europe and North America, in addition to a comprehensive schedule in the UK. Members who have final tabled APAT national events have gone on to win WSOP, WPT, EPT, Irish Open, GUKPT and many other internationally recognised professional poker titles.

MEGASTACK Luton

PokerStars’ popular MEGASTACKS tour heads to Luton next month with a £170 buy-in event running December 7-10 at Genting Casino. MEGASTACKS are designed to offer recreational players the chance to hone their skills in a well-run live, deepstack poker tournament without breaking the bank. All PokerStars MEGASTACK events take place over the weekend, cost £170 to enter and have three start flights – with one re-entry per day. Players also get a generous 50,000 starting stack.

Unibet UK Manchester The Unibet UK Poker Tour is back in December with the fifth and final stop of the year - a £40,000 guarantee event in Manchester. We are the tour’s Official Travel partner and have lots of great hotel options for Manchester including Marriott, Renaissance and Britannia.

The £200+£20 buy-in Unibet UK Manchester event runs December 8-10 offers and players a 25,000 starting stack with 40 minute blinds and one re-entry allowed per starting day. Day 1a is on December 8 at 7pm with Day 1b at 1pm on December 9.

 

Redtooth Poker Tour

Redtooth winds up a hugely successful 2017 with a final event in Nottingham on December 17. Redtooth has more than 200,000 registered players around the UK, all vying to qualify for VEGAS 100. Nottingham is the last of eight legs held during 2017. TOURNAMENTS IN EUROPE

WPTDeepstacks Deauville

WPTDeepStacks has enjoyed a cracking first season in Europe and will be celebrating the year-end with a final 2017 stop in Deauville. The PMU.fr WPTDeepStacks Deauville festival takes place December 6-10 at Casino Barrière Deauville, with the €1,200 Main Event running December 8-11. You can sort out everything you need on our site including buy-ins for the WPTDS Opener, Main Event and High Roller. The schedule also includes a €200 Survivor tourney, the PMU.fr Carte Blanche event, a PLO/Omaha High tourney and a €3k Platinum 6-max.

SuperStack

Super Stack Spain has gone from strength to strength this year with a ton of events right across the country including Malaga, Lloret de Mar and San Roque along with Gibraltar.

 

The final event of the year is Super Stack Spain - Malaga which takes place December 14-18. As always, events kick off with Day 1a on the Thursday at 8pm, and Day 1b the same time again on Friday. If you’re short on time, you can also fly in on the Saturday for Day 1C which starts at 8pm local time. Following the fantastic Super Stack structure, players get a 30,000 stack for the €170 buy-in event with 30 minute blind levels.

 

All Super Stack destinations are easy and cheap to get to. There are numerous return flights from the UK to Malaga for as little as £50, giving players the chance of a fab weekend in Spain at an easily affordable cost. partypoker Fitzwilliam November Poker Festival Dublin

The Fitzwilliam Poker Festival Dublin has a new sponsor this year – partypoker – and is looking forward to another bumper event. Hosted by Kara Scott, with commentary from Jesse May and Padraig Parkinson, the €450 Main Event runs December 1-4. Every event at the 2016 edition sold out so bag your accommodation early for this fun tourney!

 

Forges-les-Eaux MEGASTACK

Like all MEGASTACK events, Forges-les-Eaux MEGASTACK has a a €40,000 guarantee and costs just €170 to enter. The event features two starting flights, with one re-entry per day. The event is running December 14-17 at Casino Le Domaine De Forges. There is also a MEGASTACK Prague event taking place in Prague as part of PokerStars Championship Prague and a MEGASTACK Luton event running December 7-10.

 

PokerStars Prague

PokerStars’ annual Prague blockbuster takes place this year from December 7-18. The PokerStars Championship Prague incorporates a great MEGASTACK event this year along with the €5,300 Main Event, the €10,300 High Roller and €50,000,000 Super High Roller. There are 43 tournaments in all including tried-and-tested favourites such as the Prague Poker Cup. Prague is always a hugely popular stop and a fabulous place to visit in December; an idyllic winter setting aglow with festive Christmas markets. We have a range of great hotels in Prague including the tournament venue itself – the Hilton Prague – plus the Jury’s Inn, Grandior, Hotel Unic and many more.

 

Unibet Open Bucharest

The beautiful city of Bucharest is the venue for the last Unibet Open of the year. The event starts tomorrow through  to December 3 in the Romanian capital and features a €500,000 guarantee for the Main Event.

 

Last year, Bucharest was the biggest Unibet Open ever held with a staggering 603 entries. Romanian player Traian Bostan took it down – on home soil – for €100,000 after staging a superb comeback from less than four big blinds. Daiva Byrne, now a Unibet Ambassador, won the Ladies Battle Royale.

 

This year’s event, which is being held at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, features a ton of side events including the €170 Monsterstack, €2k High Roller, €200 Progressive Super Knockout and €100 Ladies Event. There are also turbo and hyper tubos on the schedule along with a €200 PLO tournament.

WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic

 

 

December is a really great time to visit Las Vegas with the Strip glowing with high-florescence holiday spirit. With all the casinos vying to impress, there’s nowhere better than the Bellagio with for decorations, lights and mega-Christmas trees. As luck would have it, Bellagio also hosts one of the big poker events of the year in December, the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

 

The overall festival runs from November 24 with the six-day $10,000 Main Event starting December 5. The Five Diamond World Poker Classic has been a part of the World Poker Tour for all 16 seasons, dating back to 2002. Previous winners include Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, and Antonio Esfandiari.

 

WPTDeepstacks, California

The WPTDeepstacks Championship in Thunder Valley is next month with a $1,000,000 guarantee for the Main Event. The whole festival runs from November 24 to December 5 with the Main finishing off a great two weeks of poker. The buy-in is $2,500 with two start flights and unlimited re-entries. There will be a live stream from the final table on December 5. Thunder Valley is near Sacramento in northern California, and a two-hour drive from both Reno and San Francisco.

WSOP Circuit, Sydney The WSOP is in Sydney next month with a Circuit event featuring a total of 13 events. The events kicks off on November 28 and runs through to December 18. Promising to be even bigger and better than the debut WSOP Sydney last year, the event will feature 13 tournaments over 21 days – with 14 coveted WSOP Gold Circuit Rings up for grabs and at least $3.8 million in guaranteed prize pools across the whole series. The jewel in the crown – the $2,200 buy-in Main Event – comes with a $2 million guarantee and there are tons of live satellites, and four start flights. Also on the schedule are a $500,000 guaranteed Opening Event, a $20,000 buy-in High Roller, a $1,100 Monster Stack Event, Masters Event, Mixed games, Omaha events and more.
