888poker LIVE London is in full swing

888poker LIVE London is in full swing for its second visit to the UK capital this year. The 888poker LIVE London festival is currently on and runs now through April 24 with a feast of tournaments at the Poker Room in famous London’s Grosvenor Victoria casino.

The festival promised 11 days of pure, unadulterated poker fun including five Mystery Bounty opening days (finished) and a £1,100 Main Event. Known affectionately as The Vic, the Grosvenor Casino in Edgware Road is one of London’s oldest and most renowned venues which has hosted innumerable celebrated events over the year.

Players in the £1,100 Main Event will all get 30,000 in chips and there are three different starting flights including a Day 1c turbo. Day 1a is on April 20 with late reg open until the start of Day 2 on April 22.  Among those set to compete is 888poker Ambassador Ian Simpson (pictured above) along with fellow Ambassador Kara Scott (pictured ) Vivian Saliba and Alex “Cavalito” Mantovani. Simpson said: “I love my trips to London for 888 live events! I get three hours on a quiet train with a good book en route to London. Then I spend a week with my wonderful poker family at 888 – making content and having a giggle. I play some cards, hopefully win some money before having another three hours with my book whilst travelling home to my girls (wife Emma and daughter Adeline), whom by then I have missed terribly. Magic.”

Other events on the packed 888poker LIVE London schedule include the Dash Rumble, the Big Shot, the £444 Mini 888, £2,000 High Roller, Seniors, Ladies and PLO 4/5/6 Bounty.

 

British player Raymond Caabay took down the £444 Main Event at 888poker LIVE’s first London sortie in February, winning a career-best score of £55,085. He beat William Chattaway heads-up in the tournament. There were 553 entries overall generating a £210k prize pool. Others who cashed included Asif Warris, Joe Hindry, Willie Tann, Oliver White and Alexios Zervos.

Following London, the 888poker LIVE tour will also be hosting stops in Barcelona in May and Bucharest in August. Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya in Spain, is a hugely popular destination for poker players, combining a rich culture and beautiful architecture with great beaches and lively nightlife. Bucharest is also a very popular stop; nicknamed the Little Paris of the East, the Romanian capital also has a long and rich cultural history with tons of art museums and landmark structures.  888poker LIVE will wrap up its European season with its third and final London stop in October.
